Not sure if this is this is what you were thinking but Timeboxing concept of putting time in front of you to tackle a task and stopping when the allotted time is done. Being able to plan your day that way so you don't go overboard on a task (focus time) - or at least you're aware that your time is up and you should be tackling something next on your to-do/agenda
