The platform (with blockers, etc) drives people towards Focus and tracking "how much" Focus very well. Another valuable use case (my primary focus), is to track 'Distractions'.
When things are going well, everything is good, and I don't really care about where or how much Focus I had. However, when progress towards my weekly goals didn't go well.... I want to look back at where the biggest 'distractions' were.
For me, these would not be things like wasting time on social media or browsing the web. So it's not as simple as 'avoiding' them 'to have Focus' For me, these could be the same things that are also FOCUS (email, Slack, etc.) but in a different context. e.g. Email from Person1 - Good use of time vs. Person2 - Not good use of time, but I still have to respond.
My thought for a feature enhancement is to allow the user to specify some Projects, Clients, or Tasks as NOT Focus. I believe you can do this at the category level, but sometimes categories span both good and bad.
One idea for how this might be implemented... tasks that can be "good" vs. "bad" but part of the same project. So some hours count 'towards' focus but some count 'against'. Right now, having categories "email" be all good or all bad - is challenging.
Thanks!
